We had two trick or treat opportunities this year! Our town had a trunk or treat on Thursday night.

Bug was a Midievial Knight and Pinkie was a butterfly-princess-fairy-ballerina. We had some time before trunk or treat started, so Pinkie got some butterfly makeup.

Below you see Pinkie waiting for Halloween to get started tonight. She was actually in time out, but it ended up being a cute picture.

And costume #2 for Bug (AKA Captain America) and Pinkie got the toned-down version of the butterfly-fairy-princess-ballerina.

Sunday Bug was determined to get in the pool. It was a frigid 88 degrees, so I agreed. By the time we got out to the pool, the sun was completely covered in clouds and the wind was blowing. So we didn't stay too long in the pool. But we did end up eating 3 popsicles each

You'll have to forgive me for posting about June BEFORE posting about August. I can't figure out how to arrange the posts to where the June post comes before the August one.

Pinkie turned two on June 25th! She had three parties!! One party was with her friends at school. Bug came out of his class to attend those festivities:

Then Pinkie had a party at Mimi's house!! It was a swimming party (as in we had a waterpark in Mimi's backyard. There was a wading pool, a slip and slide, and a water sprayer thingie) The present of all presents was given to Pinkie by Aunt Alice. A HUGE doll! It's as big as Pinkie! She also got a Gene-made crib with Princess Molly on the side of it. What a present!

She had to tell Nana all about it on the way home from Vicksburg.

And for party number three: A party at Nana and Pop's house! Em, Nana, Pop, Joe, Justina, Bug, Momma and Daddy were there for the festivities. Pinkie got a pair of squeaky-shoes, a piggy bank, and a Minnie Mouse dress! What a day!

I love our neighborhood. It was raining, and the light outside was cool, so we had a photo session with Bug and Pinkie.

Oh man this is going to be a mega-post. We have so much to catch up on!!

First: Bug turned 4 years old on August 3rd.
We have been so overwhelmingly busy lately that I almost didn't get invitations out, and when I did, I left off SEVERAL key people! (You know who you are)
But, Bug had a great day...and that's all that matters. Captain and I made a pirate cake for the party and I forgot to get a good picture of it! It made an appearance in a few of the shots before Bug blew out his ca...oh wait, I forgot to bring a candle. I also forgot to bring a tablecloth, and drinks for grownup people.

Let's just say that things have been extremely hectic lately. (as evidenced by the long time between posts on the blog)

We got some supercool pictures of Bug in two of his favorite costumes:

Second: Pinkie needs a name change. When I picked her up from school the other day, the teachers told me that all day she said "My name is Sassy Pants" Here she is talking to Nana on the phone. Sassy Pants is right.

Third: Nana and Pop came to stay for the weekend so Captain and I could take a weekend off. A great time was had by all!

Nana said she kept trying to take pictures of the kids at the Children's Museum, but they were running around so much that she couldn't get them to stay still! They loved the museum and I heard through the grapevine that Bug cried when they left. Next on the ever-growing to-do list: Go back to the Children's Museum.

You never know what's lurking around in our neighborhood. Better be prepared and put your gun in the back of the gator.

You know Pinkie would have to take a 'birthday picture too. She wanted her picture taken after we took Bug's on August 3rd. We sure are busy, but we sure are having a great time raising these two precious kids. I read my previous post that listed Pinkie's vocabulary and laughed. She can say ANYTHING now. She can also count to ten and sing the alphabet (she's been singing the alphabet for months now) She almost knows her colors too. God has blessed our family so much. I am thankful for every crazy second we have together.

Pinkie's 2nd birthday was on June 25th. We are having a Paris Hiltonesque multi-birthday party.

Party #1 was in Vicksburg at Mimi's house. In attendance were Mimi, Mimi's boyfriend Gene, Aunt Alice, Uncle Robby, Jack, Bug, Daddy, and Momma. Pinkie had a great time and got some crazy gifts. (but that's for another post, with PICTURES)

Party #2 was at Roy and Merle's house. In attendance were Roy, Merle, Daddy, Momma, and Bug. Pinkie got an awesome shopping cart filled with shopping items. She has been rolling it around the kitchen saying "I go to work, Momma...Byyyeee!"

Party #3 will be at Nana and Pop's house!

Two more little tidbits and then on to the vocabulary.

Pinkie has really taken a shine to her dolls lately. She loves her little huggems and all her other little baby dolls. So, last night we got them all out to play with. There's a cute little black puppy that's in his own carrier. Pinkie fell in love with the puppy. She toted him around, then put him in her baby crib that Gene made for her (pictures of that to come soon). So Captain asked her, "What are you going to name your puppy?" The response: "ummmm, Alice!" (Read above for attendees to birthday #1). Aunt Alice is crazy over animals, and I think she'd love that Pinkie named her puppy after her!!

Also, Bug has been focused on how "BIG" he's been growing. Every morning for about two weeks now he will ask me "momma, do you want to see how big I've grown?" So, I'll put my hand on the top of his head and say "woah, you are this tall! You are growing up so fast!!" He had a long discussion with Nana on the phone about how big he's grown. She asked him if he was going to ride the gator when he came to her house and he said "I'm too big for the gator". He's also been making the funniest expressions when he talks! His face is like "duh, momma didn't you already know that?" If I can catch that on video I am so posting it! He's also been saying "what tha heck?!" a lot.

On to vocabulary:

Here's Pinkie a year ago... and here she is today. I can't believe how fast she's gone from a baby to a little girl. Picture day was last week, so here's the kids all decked out for their photo. Here's Bug giving careful instructions on how to pose for a picture Of course, Pinkie didn't smile at all for her pictures. They even let us retake them the next day (so they must have been pretty bad). But at least she looked cute!! We also got to visit Nana, Pop, Em, and Joe this past weekend. The kids got to open Easter baskets a week early. We had a great time!

If you don't like the weather in MS, just wait a day and it'll change!! We visited Nana and Pop at the beginning of Feburary and FROZE. We (of course) had to ride the Gator. Notice Pinkie's concentration. She held on tight to her handle the whole ride.

These two pictures are from the end of January on a day where Pinkie and Bug played in Pinkies room all afternoon. Captain's aunt Mary from Laurel sent us a table and chairs, we got a kitchen from Nana and Pop for Christmas, and Mimi got us food and dishes. We had a fun afternoon playing house. Pinkie's room looked like a bomb had gone off in there.

I found this outfit in a bag of hand-me-downs from our cousins. I asked Bug if he thought he'd wear this outfit to church and he said "ewwww, no way mama". I was so disappointed! Just look how adorable he is in that outfit! Oh well, we tried it on anyway. Pinkie had to scope out the fashion show before Bug got sick of his "spenders" (suspenders)

Captain and I got to go to a surprise birthday party for our friends The Schnackenburgs. It was an 80's themed party, so we went all out! We had a blast and even stayed out until 10:00! Man, we are such rebels...preppy rebels.

Pinkie and Bug are really growing up, aren't they? They are the lights of our lives, and I thank God for them every day.

We had such pretty weather this past Saturday (75 degrees in FEBRUARY?!?!) so Captain and the kids washed his truck!

Merry Christmas!! It's been too long since I've posted. Here's a little bit of what's been happening around our house.

We took the kids to Canton to see the downtown square all lit up for Christmas. They had a great time playing out in the cold! And wouldn't you know it? The next day we wore short sleeves all day. Only in Mississippi...

Pinkie is talking so much! As of now (18 months old) she can say: Mama, Daddy, Will, Nana, Pop, Dog, Eat, Thank you, Bye Bye, Down, Up and Down (uuupp eenn daayyuuun), Watch, I love you, Moo, Quack, Ho Ho Ho, Meow, Cat, Duck, No No, Uh Oh, Lovie, Cup, Grrrrrr, and she acts like she's going to bite you but instead she makes this cute chomp noise.)

Bug made a gingerbread house all by himself! However, the candy has been mysteriously disappearing.

"Mama, I turned into a soldier today."

That's what I heard in the car on the way home from our awesome tour of one of the National Guard's C 17's on Monday.

Bug got a great opportunity from our friend 'Mister Rickey' who is a soldier with the MS National Guard. We got to see a C 17 up close and personal! Every plane we see Bug thinks 'Mister Rickey' is flying it.

C17's are huge in the sky, but seeing one on the ground is amazing. This plane is unbelievably big!!

We also got a cool opportunity to see one of the Hungarian C17's in a different hanger.

Thank you Rickey for a wonderful time~

Speaking of sassy. This girl is something else. She is running all over the place. She loves to give hugs and kisses. When she kisses you, she'll say "awwwww"
Everything that Bug does, Pinkie wants to do. Most of the pictures I take of the two of them, she's looking at him. When I say "say cheese!" She looks to see what Bug is doing and then she'll copy him. She is so precious to me and Captain.

Fort Morgan Alabama, May 26-31, 2010

Every time I look at the picture of our family I laugh at the face that Bug is making because it is identical to Pop's!

We took a family trip to Fort Morgan this past week. Bug and Pinkie had a great time! They are both little water babies and loved the sand and the ocean. Pinkie is walking around a lot more. We ended up having to barricade the stairs in the beach house because all she wanted to do was climb them over and over again.

We took these pictures right before it stormed.

Pop caught a shark and we all got to touch it. We also saw some really cool schools of fish that brought out the porpoises and the gulls. All in all it was a great vacation. I am so afraid for the gulf coast and pray that the damage from the oil leak will be minimal.

Well, here I am on a Saturday night, just finishing up my homework. I wonder if I'll ever be finished with school.

I just wanted to post an update on what's been happening in our lives. Captain has lost almost 40 pounds, and I have lost 27. We've lost a Pinkie and a Bug! I am so proud of Captain's determination. He is really something.

Bug is so sweet and loving with his sister. He told me on the way home from school the other day "I put my arm around her and love her and say CHEEESE for the camera, cause I'm the big brother"

I think Pinkie is developing allergies. Her eyes have been mucked up with this greenish discharge and her nose is running something awful. But through all that she is the most precious baby in the whole world. She thinks I'm funny and laughs at everything that I think is funny. She absolutely adores her Daddy and has a fit whenever she sees him.

I know someday I'll turn around and they'll be grown. I just want to cherish each second that they are with us. God has blessed us abundantly, and we have so much joy in our lives. I want to remember it forever.

Oh. My. Goodness we have been busy lately!

Pinkie got her first two teeth last week and has been crawling around in baby-fast-forward speed.

I have been working like crazy trying to finish this semester's work for my masters' program. (one more semester to go...)

Captain has been digging up our backyard planting all kinds of stuff. He cut down all our azalea bushes because they had some kind of disease. He promises they'll grow back, but I'm not so sure.

Bug is in the throws of potty training. He tells me to "give me some privacy mama" when he's sitting on his froggy potty. We've done pretty well with #2, but can't quite remember to regularly take him to the potty to go #1. It's more us in the potty training than it is him.

I was trying as hard as I could to have no reaction whatsoever. That may have been the hardest thing I've ever done. Do you realize how funny it is to hear your little kid and his twaaangy suuutherrn accent saying "awwww sheeeeit"

Anyway, I ignored it and steered Bug on to playing with his toys and he never said it again. Now that was this past Sunday, and I am counting the days until it rears its ugly head at the most inappropriate time possible.

Pinkie had her Christening Ceremony the weekend before last. The gown and bonnet she's wearing have been worn by fourteen of our cousins. Boys and girls alike. She looked beautiful and didn't cry a bit. She even talked to the preacher a little bit!

Blinds

I have no pictures today, but I just have to document what happened this morning in the kitchen. Bug has been obsessed with pulling up the blinds lately. He got a very serious talking-to yesterday by his Dad, has had time outs, has been threatened with spankings, etc...etc...

This morning I walked in the kitchen and he was standing with the string from the blinds in his hand. Again.

I said, "don't you remember all that Daddy said to you? You are not supposed to touch that. It is dangerous and can hurt you!"

And do you know what this little boy said?

The other day Bug decided to wear his glasses all the way to school.

I kept hearing "coo doo? coo doo?" from the backseat. Then I realized that coo doo was cool dude.

That same night he found my sunglasses at bathtime.

Whenever Bug sees a cat on TV or in real life he loses it. He loves cats! I think
that cats may be scared out of their minds with his screaming, but he doesn't care!!

Also note his favorite toy of the moment on the floor in front of him. Go figure.

Sorry it's been so long since we've posted. There's been a LOT going on. Here's a few pictures from Halloween. Bug spent the night with Aunt K and Uncle R and had a BLAST riding on a hayride with a "tack ter" driving it!

I had to put this picture of Elvis in. He spent the night with us on Saturday night and we had a performance to remember from the king himself!

We had 3 Halloween parties to go to! The first one was so much fun that I lost my tail and whiskers so I had to come up with another costume for the next two...

Don't worry, we were just playing around. Bug didn't go trick or treating dressed up like a cat.
